Is birth harder the older you get?

I mean specifically on the body. I know plenty of women have had their first babies in their late 30s and beyond but I have also read about women saying it was harder for them to actually go through the process. Many opt for c-sections because of this. I guess that is safer for the mother and the baby in some cases. Does anyone know if having your first child later in life is harder for the body?

I would assume it is but this depends on so many things. It is always a good idea to get checked out by a doctor and let them give you an idea of risks and things based on the health of your body and reproductive organs.

I would argue that certain things are harder but generally speaking if you are otherwise healthy, you shouldn't have many concerns. I think there are some doctors who will only worry if you are showing early abnormal signs within the pregnancy that could lead to complications down the road.

I agree with Jane. Certain things are harder but the female body is capable of adjusting and making due.

Just make sure if you are older, you have a doctor or midwife who is experienced with older births so they know what to expect and look out for.
