Having the talk?
#1
Did your mother have the talk with you about your period?

Mine didn't. She never mentioned it once to me. I have no understanding of it until I learned about it in school and because I was shy, I was too afraid to ask questions about it in class. This led me to be confused about menstruation, sex, the whole lot. I feel like having the talk is very important and it should come from your parents, not a school.

She did not. I actually learned a lot of what I know and knew at the time from my friend's mom. She was more open about it and didn't make me feel weird for talking about it. She even taught her two sons about it so they didn't make her daughter, my friend, feel weird about it when the time came. I guess I was lucky to have such a wonderful woman in my life at the time!

Yes, but it was rather odd. She was yelling at my younger brother to leave the room and shut the door multiple times. She ended up getting some kind of "sex ed tape" from my school nurse to show me at home. Asked if I had any questions after watching it... I just remember saying "Can't we just use bandages to stop the bleeding?" and she couldn't stop laughing.
