Oral vs depot injection, do you think injections are more risky?

I know the basic risks of oral birth control but I don't know much about injections. I would imagine they work similar to vitamin injections where they release over time. How often do you need to get these shots? Is there more of a risk or side-effects vs oral birth control?

I know the shots last much longer. You are very unlikely to get pregnant for 10 months after getting one dose. For women who want more control of when they can become pregnant, I think they should stick to oral BC. The side-effects and risks, as far as I know, are the same.

Both options involve hormones and no matter what, hormone therapy of any kind be it for preventing pregnancy, fixing inbalances, or transitioning all come with risks. The pill is more straightforward and easier to back off of if you notice any issues whereas the shot is in your system for several months.
