Is free bleeding sanitary?

This is not something I would ever choose simply because I don't want to have to worry about staining up my clothing or my sheets! No hate against the women who do this though. I think for those who have lighter periods, you likely hardly notice and your underwater probably absorbs a lot of it. My only concern is how sanitary this is. Can't you spread blood-related diseases like HIV this way if you are not careful?

Hi RedRose,
when you practice free bleeding, you don't have to worry about leaving blood stains behind. Because with free bleeding, you learn how to control your period blood and then discharge it directly on the toilet (just like you do with your pee as well). So there is no need to worry about it. Wow I had no idea you could control it! Everything I see on it just shows women with bloody crotches and for me, no offense, that is gross. I can't stand the sight of blood though. Also, you can transmit HIV this way so you have to make sure you are not leaving it behind in public spaces if you are positive for that. Apparently, the virus can live in dried-up blood for up to 4 hours.

I would imagine that way back in the day, most women did this or at the very least, used reusable products in their underwear that they washed and dried. It is safer for the environment so it is worth at least trying for yourself. I think the only women that would struggle with it are those with heavier flows.

Yeah, I was not aware of being able to control the flow either, that is interesting! 

And that makes sense about HIV. I guess women who have that or any other blood-related illness that is contagious would have to be careful.
