How old is too old to have children?
I don't have any children yet. I would like to but my partner and I are planning first. We want to make sure we have a stable foundation and own a home first. I know I am not getting any younger and now I am concerned that I might already be getting too old for pregnancy. How old is too old to have babies?
I think this depends on the health of the individual woman. There are more risks after 35 but the risks only go up by maybe 0.5% every year. I know a few women who had their children in their early forties, and I am saying for the first time. Just focus on the health of your body and let your age just be a number.
I am concerned about this myself but most of what I have read/found online has said so long as the mother-to-be is healthy, age is only a major concern past the age of 45. I still want to get some doctor's opinions. I am not in the best health I could be. I know I should probably lose weight before getting pregnant as well.
Speak with your doctor. You need to have all your medical issues on the table as well as get your eggs and hormones tested. Plenty of women have had babies in their 40's whereas others have struggled to have children after the age of 30. It really depends!
